Top Rooftop Bars in Lisbon, Portugal

So Boris has spoken, I and I’m sure you are all delighted that we are all allowed to travel again from the 17th May! Portugal is one of the beautiful countries that made it to our green list so I’d thought I’d share some experiences from my trip to Lisbon from July 2019.

Before I get into the blog post, let me please apologise on the lack of updating GGG has been getting over the past year. It’s been a long time since I’ve been inspired to update my blog due to not stepping on a plane in OVER A YEAR (!!!!) so I’ve been bumbling along nicely at home, but now that I’ve been vaccinated and the travel corridors are opening, you bet I’ll be in full Girl Going Global mode this summer!

Anyway, back to Portugal; I can hands down confirm Lisbon is one of my favourite European cities so we are SO lucky Portugal is on our green list, it’s beautiful, the bars are EPIC and we found the people to be sooo wonderful and welcoming!

So without further ado, here are my top rooftop bars in Lisbon:

1. Park Bar

I sorted hotels for the trip, so left Will in charge of sourcing the evening hangouts, and on the first night when we came to this really ‘awesome’ bar, I was VERY underwhelmed on first impressions (hear me out), we turned up at the bottom of a groggy multi-story carpark, decorated in graffiti. After almost ducking out and requesting we look for somewhere else, Will eventually managed to get me up those creepy stairs, and once we got to the top… Wow! The music was vibing, drinks were flowing and there was a glorious buzz, not even to mention the absolute scenes over the city in perfect sunset situ. This one is such a cool spot, full of luscious plants and perfect for a few sundowners.

2. Vintage Hotel V Rooftop Bar

We actually stayed at the Vintage Hotel and Spa (check out my blog post on it, here), it was a real delight with traditional Portuguese touches, beautiful interiors, a gorgeous breakfast and….. a super snazzy rooftop bar! We arrived the first night when it was dark so enjoyed a magical view of the city lit up under the moon! The waiters were lovely, the food platters delicious and of course – 5/5 cocktails! I also highly recommend this hotel to stay in; such fabulous value in a wonderful area, check it out here

3. Bar Turraço de Santa Luzia

The only one in this list that we enjoyed in the day as opposed to an evening/sunset spot. We spotted it during a day of exploring the wonderful sights of Lisbon, and hence it is right in the middle of the charming, cobbled streets. It was a sociable place where we got talking to other tourists and again, enjoyed Portuguese platters, delicious drinks and a fabulous view! Fitted the bill perfectly.

4. Noobai

Another of Wills previously researched suggestions. It was a little difficult to find at first as we were wondering around a quiet neighbourhood (with Google Maps) but once we arrived, we saw why it had made it to top spots on other blogs. Rows of tables all facing the famous Ponte 25 de Abril bridge, meant for STUNNING views which we enjoyed so much, we actually stayed for a spontaneous dinner there too!

5. Rio Maravilha in LX Factory

SO unfortunately, my online search has confirmed that one of my favourite rooftop bars has sadly closed down. I’ve included it here anyway in the hope that another one may pop up (my eyes are peeled) in it’s place as the vibe and view were both SOOOO COOL! But in the meantime, I’ve researched some alternatives. Rio Maravilha was in LX Factory, which was one of Lisbon’s most significant factories which opened in 1846, and has since been converted into stores, restaurants and bars. It had a very quirky vibe so I recommend checking out some other places there, like Cantina which we did actually have dinner at, after drinks in Rio Maravilha and had a great time. There’s also Burgeur Factory which looks delish!

But if it’s the view you were drawn to, I’ve hunted out a few joints in similar situ –

Le Chat: food, cocktails and DJs, cool vibes with an awesome view!

Õkah: Restaurant and rooftop bar which looks fun, quirky and chic!

Urban Beach which isn’t a rooftop but this place is just down the river from LX factory and looks EIPC, I definitely need to head back to Lisbon to see this place….
