The Perfect Place to stay in Porto

This summer, my friend and I enjoyed a wonderful trip travelling around Portugal (which was our first trip abroad since the pandemic so we were SO excited!). Porto was our first port-o call and wow – were we in for a treat; it is one of the most charming cities I have visited, with colourful buildings, quaint cobbled streets, refreshing green wine and such friendly locals.

My ‘What to do in Porto’ post is currently pending, but whilst we wait for that –  let me show you where we stayed….

We stayed in S. Bento Residences which is an aparthotel in central Porto. The chic interior design oozing industrial vibes is what first enticed me – it has been carefully decorated with a sleek but comfortable blend of luxury furnishings.

Our apartment was incredibly spacious – giving Helen and I ample room for a comfortable ‘work from home/(holiday)’ day, with a dining area, fully fitted kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave and a coffee machine to fuel our caffeine requirements whilst working!

There was a relaxing area with a large TV and snazzy sofa, a large balcony with fantastic views over the hustle and bustle of Porto and a modern and spotlessly clean shower room.

The location of S. Bento Residences is perfect, with a 5 minute walk to the famous Dom Luís I Bridge, it is so easy to walk down to the Ribeira Square and we were next door to the famous São Bento Railway Station! The shopping street – Rua Santa Catarina is also a 5 minute walk away, so as you can see – the location couldn’t be better to soak up and indulge in the Porto experience.

Porto, Portugal

Porto is such a special place, with picturesque scenes everywhere, the famous tiles lend for such a colourful city. Down by the riverside, there’s a wonderful ambiance with numerous riverside restaurants, beautiful boats floating past and there’s usually a musician or two providing the tunes.

Walk over the Dom Luís I Bridge for incredible views over the city and head to the other side of the bridge for a special evening watching the sunset. We enjoyed some Vinho Verdes (Green wine) and Porto Tonicos whilst there; with endless charming restaurants and cafes, there’s so many beautiful places and sights to see!

What we loved about S. Bento Residences, was the perfect combination between hotel and apartment; there’s the luxury and safety of the 24 hour concierge service whilst also offering the freedom of having your own space in an apartment.

We were bought breakfast up to our room every morning, which was such a lovely touch – we could choose what time we wanted it, and it was delivered fresh so that we could enjoy it in our apartment or on the balcony. We also appreciated the cleaner who cleaned the apartment immaculately everyday.

In this new post-pandemic world, it offers the perfect option for your own space and privacy with the excellent service of a hotel.

The staff at the concierge desk were so friendly and always wanting to offer help and advice – they couldn’t have been more welcoming! We also met the manager who was lovely and gave us recommendations on where to go and what to see.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend S. Bento Residences to my friends and family, so of course, I recommend it to you guys too!

We vlogged our trip around Portugal so please do check out the Porto videos below to see more of the beautiful apartment, the great food and drink we consumed, our walk over the Dom Luís I Bridge and some general fun and laughs we had whilst exploring pretty Porto!

I am super grateful to have collaborated with S Bento Residences. But please note that all opinions are my own.
