Our Luxury Hotel Stay in the Austrian Alps

Elements Resort is the new, beautifully designed four star luxury hotel in the Austrian Alps at the foot of the Zell am See mountains.

With a perfect blend of both luxury and comfort, this Austrian Alpine hotel offers a traditionally wooden yet sleek, modern design and is perfect for both an active and relaxing holiday. It was the most wonderful place for us to spend our 2019 Christmas, let me snow you why….

Elements Resort in Zell am See

Location

The location of Elements lends itself particularly well to skiers as it’s just a five minute walk from the Arbeitbahn cable car that whisks mountain lovers directly up to the snowy playground of the Schmittenhöhe ski resort. It is also situated near the Kaprun glacier, (the Kitzsteinhorn) which offers year round skiing. Whilst not directly on the famous Zell am See lake – it is nearby and I can fully recommend enjoying the warmer months there too, having spent a week in the area last summer which was an absolute dream (jumping in the lake is a must).

Elements‘ position isn’t in the town centre of Zell am See but instead, a short bus ride away or, like my parents enjoyed – a 15 minute walk to the lake and another 15 minutes into the town centre.

If you opt for self-catered or breakfast only board basis, you’ll still be spoilt for choice in local amenities! There’s a Lidl opposite (which my Mum secretly LOVES) and an Aldi just five minutes walk away (which Dad loves so they were both very happy).

Rooms

The rooms at Elements are incredibly sizeable due to the apartment style and self-catering board option, so all compose of a fully kitted kitchen (including a dishwasher – which is my guilty requirement tehe) and a coffee machine with complimentary pods on arrival!

As described earlier, the rooms are sleek with comfortable, crisp beds, luxurious toiletries with a truly relaxing scent and beautiful big balconies boasting views over the surrounding mountains. They also give you bath robes which is another of my favourite touches in a luxury hotel (which I tend to live in whilst in the room… they’re just so cosy!).

Spa

The spa offers an unforgettable luxury alpine experience and is probably one of my favourite areas of the hotel. There’s a relaxation room, two saunas, a gym and a year round heated pool with an indoor entrance – all perfect to soothe those muscles after a long day on the slopes.

The photos speak for themselves – it was SUCH a magical moment in the pool with the snow falling around me. (The pool is heated, but do remember that with really low outside temperatures, it’s never going to be as hot as the steam makes it look, this being said – does it really matter when it looks this good?!.)

Food

The food at Elements is truly divine. I’ll start with my favourite meal of the day – breakfast! After having previously visited the Stockinggut (another hotel in the Alpin Rental family), I had very high hopes for the breakfast here. I love their system of ordering eggs on request whether that’s scrambled with cheese, omelette with onions, fried eggs with sausage (there are so many options) and then there’s a buffet too where you can find cereals, croissants, muffins, salmon, cheese, hams, juices, coffee etc. They focus on high quality over quantity whilst still guaranteeing ample options to choose from!

The dining experience in the evenings was fabulous – the waiters were all so lovely and the food was incredible. We could select from their delightful à la Carte menu or if nothing tickled our fancy that night, their made-to-perfection-in-house pizza menu catered for every palette.  Whilst there, I of course had to enjoy a Spätzle and Gröstl or two… both equally delicious traditional Austrian dishes which I highly recommend trying! The dishes were all presented so beautifully (see images below).

Skiing

I’ve skied a plethora of European resorts including the adjacent resorts of Leogang and Salbach but never before have I experienced the delights of what Zell am See had to offer. For this reason I was slightly apprehensive of what the skiing would entail (I have all the confidence in the world down blues and reds but give me an icy, black slope and you’ll have me screaming for my dear life). But…. I LOVED it! Zell am See is full of beautiful blue, treelined, wide runs and all week I think we queued once! The snow was so perfect (and probably the best I’ve experienced so early on in the season) – it was just magical!

In conclusion, I mean… WHAT A TRIP! The skiing was second-to-none, the hotel was pure alpine luxury and I HIGHLY recommend everything about it. Thank you Elements Resort!
